Not only is it a state-of-the-art digital art piece, but we also use dS to educate schoolchildren and the general public about atomic and molecular physics, giving them an interactive glimpse into the otherwise invisible molecular world. Recently, we have been working with the Royal Society of Chemistry to adapt dS for use in the classroom, as an innovative STEAM teaching tool.

dS takes an entirely unique approach toward STEM education. It uses interactive technology to teach science in a beautiful way. Rather than shying away from the classic art/science divide, it relies on artistic excellence to drive science engagement. Our studies have shown that it seamlessly bridges both art and science: dS inspires arts students to engage with STEM subjects, and it inspires science students with the sort of creative engagement that the arts encourage.
